Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats 40 g
  • 3/4 cup water or milk
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of nutmeg or cardamom optional
  • 3/4 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt 170 g
  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 banana sliced
  • 2 strawberries sliced
  • 2 tbsp granola

Method

  1. Add the oats, water, cinnamon and nutmeg to a small pot (or a microwave-safe bowl).
  2. Cook for 4–5 minutes on the stove, or 2–3 minutes in the microwave, until the oats are soft.
  3. Take it off the heat, stir in the vanilla and let it cool for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the Greek yogurt and honey until creamy. Adding the yogurt off the heat keeps it smooth.
  5. Top with banana, strawberries and granola.

Notes

Warm spices: cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom add sweetness and flavor without extra sugar.
More protein: cook the oats in milk instead of water for about 6 g more.
