Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats 40 g
  • 3/4 cup milk dairy, soy or high-protein milk
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder about 30 g
  • 1/2 banana sliced
  • 1/3 cup blueberries
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp ground flaxseed
  • pinch of salt

Method

  1. Add the oats, milk and a pinch of salt to a small pot (or a large microwave-safe bowl).
  2. Cook over medium heat for 4–5 minutes, stirring often, until thick and creamy. In the microwave, cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring every minute.
  3. Take it off the heat and let it cool for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in the protein powder until smooth. Add a splash of milk if it gets too thick.
  5. Top with banana, blueberries, peanut butter, chia seeds and flaxseed.

Notes

No lumps: always add the protein powder off the heat. Boiling-hot oats make it clump.
Chocolate version: use chocolate protein powder and top with banana, a drizzle of nut butter and a square of dark chocolate.
