Ingredients

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder about 30 g; whey or a whey-casein blend
  • 1/4 cup water about two fingers in the glass
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened oat milk
  • 2 shots decaf espresso or ½ cup strong decaf coffee, cooled

Method

  1. Pour the water into a tall glass (about 16 oz / 470 ml) and add the scoop of protein powder.
  2. Stir or whisk until the protein is completely dissolved and there are no lumps. A handheld milk frother does it in about 10 seconds. This is the most important step.
  3. Fill the glass with ice.
  4. Pour in the oat milk.
  5. Pour the decaf espresso into the space left at the top. Enjoy the layers, then stir before drinking.

Notes

No lumps: never add protein powder straight to cold oat milk or hot coffee. Dissolve it in a little water first.
More protein: use soy milk or ultra-filtered dairy milk instead of oat milk for a few extra grams.
