This Privacy Policy explains what information High Protein World (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you visit highprotein.world (the “Site”), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Who we are
High Protein World is a recipe and nutrition website run by Lorena Ballester, based in Spain. Our content is written in English for readers mainly in the United States. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can contact us at admin@highprotein.world.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: when you send us a message, we collect your name, email address and the content of your message so we can reply.
- Comments: when you leave a comment, we collect the name, email address and website (optional) you enter, the comment itself, your IP address and your browser’s user agent string to help detect spam.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our partners may automatically collect certain information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring URL, pages viewed, time spent on pages and approximate location (city or region, based on your IP address). This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies described below.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information, such as health records, and we never ask you to share medical information with us.
How we use your information
- To operate, maintain and improve the Site and its content.
- To reply to your messages and moderate comments.
- To understand how visitors use the Site (analytics).
- To display advertising, including personalized advertising where permitted.
- To protect the Site against spam, fraud and security threats.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We use them to remember your preferences, measure traffic and, once advertising is enabled, show ads. When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies, and you can change your choice at any time using the cookie icon at the bottom of the page.
| Type | Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Make the Site work and remember your cookie choices | Consent cookie, security and caching cookies |
| Analytics | Help us understand how visitors use the Site | Google Analytics |
| Advertising | Show ads and measure their performance | Google AdSense and its partners |
| Functional | Remember details you enter in comment forms | WordPress comment cookies |
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use, or plan to use, Google AdSense to display ads on the Site. In connection with this:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this Site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or the NAI opt-out page.
- To learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) to measure traffic and understand which content is useful. This service collects information such as pages visited, time on page and general device and location data. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Embedded content and third-party services
We rely on trusted service providers to run the Site. They only receive the information they need to provide their service:
- Google (AdSense, Analytics, Search Console): Google Privacy Policy
- Automattic (Gravatar profile pictures in comments): Automattic Privacy Policy
- Our hosting provider, which stores the Site and processes server logs.
Pages may also include embedded content (for example, videos or social media posts). Embedded content behaves the same way as if you visited the other website directly, and that website may collect data about you.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only with the service providers listed above, when required by law, or to protect our rights and the safety of our users. Allowing advertising cookies may count as “sharing” or “selling” personal information for targeted advertising under some US state laws; you can opt out as explained below.
How long we keep your information
- Contact messages: kept as long as needed to answer you, and deleted within 12 months.
- Comments and their metadata: kept until the comment is removed.
- Analytics data: kept according to the retention settings of each provider (for Google Analytics, a maximum of 14 months).
Your privacy rights in the United States
Depending on the state where you live, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states with privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it.
- Access and receive a copy of your personal information.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete your personal information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA): in the last 12 months we may have collected identifiers (such as IP address and cookie IDs), internet activity (pages viewed) and approximate geolocation, for the purposes listed in this policy. To opt out of the sale or sharing of your information for targeted advertising, reject advertising cookies in our cookie banner or contact us at admin@highprotein.world. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where required by law.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at admin@highprotein.world. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and we will reply within the time required by law (usually 45 days). You may also use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf.
Visitors from the European Union and the UK
Because the Site is operated from Spain, we also comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We process your data based on your consent (cookies for analytics and advertising), our legitimate interest (security, spam prevention and improving the Site) and, when you contact us, to respond to your request. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your data, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. You can contact us at admin@highprotein.world or file a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD). Some of our providers, such as Google, may transfer data outside the European Economic Area under appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” (DNT) setting. Because there is no common standard for how to respond to DNT signals, the Site does not currently respond to them. You can manage tracking through our cookie banner and your browser settings.
Children’s privacy
The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, in line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at admin@highprotein.world and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including an encrypted HTTPS connection and up-to-date software. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features or services. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically.
